DESCRIPTION:Our March campout will be the Native Sons and Daughters Program State Pow Wow located at Florida Elks Youth Ranch and hosted by the Timucuan Nation out of Jacksonville\, FL. \nThis is a great opportunity to meet other like-minded families that participate in the program throughout the state. There are (11) other Longhouses in the state of Florida just like the Great Sun Nation and they are all coming together for a massive event this year. \nThis year’s event will be held at the Florida Elks Youth Ranch in Umatilla\, FL. The Timucuan Nation has quite an event planned including war games\, ropes course\, archery\, canoeing and a sacred fire. There will also be a raffle. Camping will be primitive and ground fires are allowed. SUMMARY:Big Pine Key Fishing Lodge
DESCRIPTION:Located just a short drive past Fiesta Key sits Big Pine Key Fishing Lodge\, which was actually very close to where Irma made landfall. We were fortunate to have been able to secure campsites right on the water and the views did not disappoint! Big Pine Key is also home to the National Key Deer refuge and the campground had a constant flow of Key Deer visitors. Like most trips to the Keys there were endless possibilities to keep everyone busy and this years activities included Stand up Paddle boarding\, kayaking\, fishing\, snorkeling and the always fun boat excursion to explore the open waters!! Our Saturday activities concluded with the campground hosting s’mores’ by the campfire which was a nice surprise. Another terrific trip to the Keys\, very much looking forward to the 2022 trip which is scheduled for April 22th – 24th\, so save the date as you don’t want to miss this one.
